About

When I married my wonderful husband, I thought we would have no problem managing the money (bills, groceries, mortgages, play)- we have more coming in, right? WRONG. I watched our money month by month dwindle.  So I thought about what areas of our life I could save money in without sacrificing the things we love. I had been seeing people’s posts and hearing stories about the crazy world of couponing- but I never understood it. Stacking, Peelies, Manuf. Qs, Blinkies, Tearpads, what!? It was all a foreign language to me.

I began by asking questions, reading blogs, and googling.  I came across some fantastic blogs that helped me out tremendously. Don’t get me wrong, I am still nowhere close to as good as these other ladies are at couponing, but you have to start somewhere.  I feel I have a pretty good handle on that “somewhere.”  I have literally cut our grocery bill by 50% since starting a few months ago- and I look forward to saving even more.

Happy Couponing is a team effort between me and my sister-in-law Katie.  We both find deals and post them here.  Check back often- we find and posts deals everyday!

Never a dull moment, that is for sure! :) Not in the Waffird family! I’m the coupon partner-in-crime/a.k.a. sister in law, Katie Waffird. Hi and welcome to the site. My husband and I have used coupons for years, but it wasn’t anything other than a few coupons for a few items at a time. I always was under the impression that you had to use a store coupon OR a manufacturer coupon, but never together and at the same time! A few months ago, my mom had invited me to attend a coupon class that was hosted by a local coupon blogger. I learned so much about “stacking coupons” and “stockpiling”….things I had never thought about before. Then Emily and I were at dinner one night and she mentioned how she had started reviewing blogs and different websites and people actually told you exactly what to buy, where to buy it, and with what type of coupon. It inspired me and then as soon as I started searching the sites and getting free samples and free items at the store I was hooked. I’m still a beginner. I’m definitely still working my way through, but that’s almost the best part. I don’t usually buy a great deal of things in bulk, not yet at least, but I am working on stockpiling a few items at a time. The best deals I have found so far are usually personal care items, but I’m definitely improving on saving on food and dinner items. It’s such an amazing feeling to buy 10-15 items and spend less than $10!!! And it’s not impossible!! So have fun with us as we learn our way through the world of blogging and help you learn to save money too!

Katie
